  • HOW IT WORKS

  • HOW DOES OPTE WORK?

    OPTE is a handheld micro-applicator that scans, detects, and corrects hyperpigmentation (spots). OPTE identifies spots with blue LED lights and a digital camera. A microprocessor analyzes the images, signaling the device to deposit serum directly onto spots, instantly camouflaging and reducing their appearance over time.

  • HOW DOES OPTE ACHIEVE A NATURAL LOOK?

    In even the most severe instances of face hyperpigmentation, only 5% of skin is hyperpigmented. Compared to conventional foundations that are applied to your entire face, OPTE is precision skincare that camouflages only the areas you want to target. By digitally scanning your skin and analyzing your complexion to detect the spots you want to cover, and then only covering those spots, OPTE leaves the remaining 95% of your face untouched, allowing the beauty of your natural skin to shine through. 

  • WHAT SKIN BENEFITS DOES OPTE PROVIDE?

    OPTE has 3 key active ingredients:
    1. Mineral pigments, to camouflage spots.
    2. Niacinamide (Vitamin B3), to help reduce the appearance of spots over time.
    3. Propolyene Glycol, to help the skin retain moisture.

  • HOW DOES THE WAND ACTUALLY WORK?

    The wand works by scanning, selecting, and correcting.

    SCAN: The wand has a camera that uses blue light to find tonal variations and age spots on your skin.
    DETECT: A microprocessor then analyzes the characteristics of your spots, like location, size, shape, and color. This allows the wand to target your spots and apply the tone perfecting serum.
    CORRECT: The wand applies the one perfecting serum only to your spots in a very targeted and precise way. The tone perfecting serum camouflages spots immediately but also contains specialized ingredients that help reduce the appearance of spots over time.

  • WHAT IS THE BLUE LIGHT? IS IT SAFE?

    The blue light is absolutely safe! It has been tested and approved as safe by an accredited certification laboratory. The blue light illuminates your skin (like a flashlight) so the wand can scan, detect, and correct tonal variations in comparison to the rest of your skin. It is not a laser or LED therapy device. 

  • IS OPTE AN AIRBRUSH?

    Though OPTE’s wand deposits serum in a way that is similar to the way airbrushing deposits foundation, OPTE is unique in that it only deposits serum on the areas of your skin that need attention. Typically, even in severe instances, only 5% of facial skin is hyperpigmented. While airbrushing covers your entire face, regardless of when hyperpigmentation is and isn’t present, OPTE precisely scans, detects, and corrects only your hyperpigmentation, leaving the remaining 95% of your skin natural and untouched. 

  • IS OPTE PAINFUL TO USE? WHAT DOES THE SERUM FEEL LIKE?

    OPTE is completely pain-free. You will feel the rollers gently gliding over your skin, and you may feel a very faint cool feeling as the serum is deposited onto your skin, but you may feel nothing at all. 

    If you feel any pain or discomfort, you are likely using too much pressure to apply OPTE. Remember to apply using the 4 "S" application technique (Soft, Slow, Straight, and Sweep): 

    SOFT: The lighter you press, the better OPTE works. Use a feather-light amount of pressure while using the wand to apply serum. You should not see any indentation on your skin.

    SLOW: Each stroke of the wand should take about 3 to 5 seconds.

    STRAIGHT: Don't tilt the wand. Keep both of the rollers flat on your face during use.

    SWEEP: Keep the wand on your skin and work in long, broad strokes. Avoid lifting it off your skin during passes.

  • CAN I TAKE THE WAND ON THE GO?

    We do not recommend that you take the wand on the go without the cradle as the cradle is essential to ensuring that OPTE functions properly. In addition to charging your wand, the cradle cleans and conditions your wand before and after each use and maintains the quality of your serum (serum may become unusable if the wand isn’t kept in the cradle when not in use). Additionally, the wand’s battery lasts less than 30 minutes outside of the cradle. If you need to take OPTE with you, be sure to keep the wand and cradle together. OPTE will not work unless the cradle is plugged in.

  • CAN I TRAVEL WITH OPTE?

    Yes, but you will need to plug it in when you arrive to your destination. If traveling on a plane, we recommend that you carry-on OPTE rather than packing your device in a checked bag in order to protect OPTE’s battery.

  • IS OPTE CLEAN?

    Yes, OPTE is a clean product. The serum does NOT include added ingredients such as sulfates, parabens, dyes, artificial colors, formaldehyde, or phthalates. 

  • IS OPTE FOR ME?

  • HOW IS OPTE DIFFERENT THAN OTHER PRODUCTS/SERVICES?

    OPTE provides better skin without the tradeoffs of today's conventional beauty standards by covering only what is needed, revealing your natural skin so you can be more of who you already are.

    For example:
    -Compared to spot lightening creams that are applied to all of your skin, OPTE targets and treats just where you need it.
    -Compared to laser treatments that can be costly and painful, OPTE is not a laser and is gentle and pain free.
    -Compared to foundations that leave skin heavy and flat, OPTE uses 95% less product so you can look naturally radiant.

  • WILL OPTE WORK ON ME?

    OPTE works best on skin with hyperpigmentation spots that are dime-sized or smaller. OPTE will not work on spots that are too large (bigger than a dime), spots that are much darker than your overall skin tone (dark moles, blackheads, etc.), or spots that are raised/textured.

  • WILL MY SPOTS GO AWAY?

    Though hyperpigmentation never truly disappears and is constantly regenerating, OPTE contains 5% niacinamide, an active ingredient that is proven to help fade the appearance of hyperpigmentation over 8-12 weeks of consistent daily use.

  • WHICH SERUM SHADE IS RIGHT FOR ME?

  • DOES OPTE WORK ON MEN?

    Yes, OPTE is for all genders and is also for far more than just your face! You can use OPTE anywhere you want to camouflage hyperpigmentation, including, but not limited to, your arms, neck, hands, and chest. Please note that OPTE works best on clean shaven skin and can be washed off with soap and water.

  • APPLICATION/ROUTINE

  • HOW SHOULD I APPLY OPTE?

    Apply OPTE using the 4 "S" application technique (Soft, Slow, Straight, and Sweep) demonstrated in the Let's Begin Guide and the tutorial found HERE

    SOFT: The lighter you press, the better OPTE works. Use a feather-light amount of pressure while using the wand to apply serum. You should not see any indentation on your skin.

    SLOW: Each stroke of the wand should take about 3 to 5 seconds.

    SWEEP: Keep the wand on your skin and work in long, broad strokes. Avoid lifting it off your skin during passes.

    You’ll know OPTE is working properly when you hear it clicking. Remember that the serum is buildable, and you should take multiple passes. We recommend using the Wand on one half of your face, moving to the other half, then returning to the first half to repeat the process until you are satisfied with your coverage. 

    OPTE has a learning curve, so the first few uses may take over 10 minutes. After 5 to 10 uses, most people find they can effectively use OPTE and achieve their desired transformation in about 5 minutes. 

    The more you use and practice with OPTE, the happier you’ll be with your results!

  • HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO USE?

    OPTE has a learning curve, so the first few uses may take over 10 minutes. After 5 to 10 uses, most people find they can effectively use OPTE and achieve a transformation in about 5 minutes.

  • HOW MUCH PRESSURE DO I USE TO APPLY?

    Use the lightest pressure possible while still keeping both rollers in contact with your face. The wand should feel like a feather lightly touching your skin, and you should not see any indentations from the wand. The lighter you press, the better the wand works. Additionally, you’ll know OPTE is being used properly when you hear continuous clicks while you move it across your face.

  • DO I NEED TO KEEP GOING OVER AN AREA UNTIL THE CLICKING STOPS?

    The wand clicks to let you know when it has detected a spot or tonal variation in your skin. As you apply the serum, the clicks will slow down, but the clicks will likely never completely stop because the wand's camera is so sensitive. It can detect tonal variations that even you may not notice. You can stop using the wand as soon as you have achieved your desired look. 

  • WHAT MAKEUP CAN I WEAR WITH OPTE?

    We do not recommend using any liquid or cream foundation before or after using OPTE. Using liquid makeup before using the wand will make it difficult for the device to detect your tonal variations. Using liquid makeup after using the wand will remove the serum and undo the instant transformation.

    You can, however, use any powder makeup after using the wand (like powder foundation, powder SPF, translucent powder, powder bronzer, powder blush). We recommend using a blotting motion to apply these powders, rather than a brushing motion.

    You can also apply liquid concealer under your eyes, but we recommend that you do not add any liquid concealer on top of the serum, as it will undo the instant transformation. 

  • CAN I APPLY MOISTURIZER OR OTHER SKIN CARE TO MY FACE WHEN USING THE WAND?

    Yes! In fact, OPTE typically works best when applied after your moisturizer/skincare. Allow a few minutes for your moisturizer/SPF to sink in before using the wand. We do not recommend applying any liquid moisturizer, SPF, or makeup after using the wand as it will impact the immediate transformation. 

  • CAN I USE A PRIMER PRIOR TO USING OPTE?

    Yes, you can try wearing primer before using OPTE. If you experience smearing of the serum, discontinue use of primer or try allowing a few minutes of drying time before using the wand.

  • HOW DO I REMOVE THE SERUM?

    You can remove the serum with your normal preferred cleanser. 

  • HOW LONG LASTING IS OPTE'S COVERAGE?

    OPTE's coverage lasts about 8 to 10 hours. It is not permanent, and can be washed off with your normal preferred cleanser.

  • HOW DO I KNOW THE SERUM IS COMING OUT?

    To double check that the serum is depositing properly, hold the OPTE device stationary on your skin for 5 seconds. If OPTE is depositing serum properly, you will see a solid line of serum that is as long as the opening of the tip.

  • CAN I USE OPTE AT NIGHT?

    Yes, OPTE can be used at any time, but note that the serum is pigmented.

  • DOES OPTE INSTANTLY COVER ALL MY SPOTS?

    The serum is buildable, which allows you to control the level of coverage you want. OPTE easily covers small, light spots with a few passes. Camouflaging larger, darker spots may take multiple passes.

  • CAN I USE OPTE UNDER MY EYES AND AROUND MY NOSE?

    Yes, you can use OPTE under your eyes and on your nose. It will not treat under-eye circles. 

  • HOW DO I USE THE WAND ON MY NOSE?

    For best results, try to keep both rollers flat on your nose and in contact with your skin. Some have found it helpful to use their spare hand to pull their nose to one side to flatten it while applying the serum.

  • CAN I USE THE WAND ON MY NECK?

    Yes, OPTE can be used on your face, neck, chest, and body. Keep in mind that OPTE will wash off with soap or cleanser. 

  • CAN I GET A FACIAL OR SKIN TREATMENT WHILE USING OPTE?

    Yes, using OPTE will not interfere with facials or skin treatment.

  • HOW CAN I MAKE THE SERUM LAST LONGER?

    Try using a powder (powder foundation, translucent powder, powder blush, powder bronzer) on your skin after using the wand as this may make the product last longer Also, try not to touch your face throughout the day.   

  • THE WAND IS LEAVING "STREAKS" OF SERUM ON MY SKIN.

    This may happen if the tip of your wand gets dirty. You can clean the tip by removing it from the wand and rinsing with soap and water. Make sure that the tip is dry before reattaching it to the wand or returning it to the cradle.

    You may also see streaks if you are pressing the wand too hard onto your skin. You should be applying the serum using a feather-light amount of pressure. 

  • DEVICE CARE

  • HOW DO I SET UP MY NEW SYSTEM?

    You can refer to the set up instructions found in the Instruction Guide included with your OPTE or in the tutorial HERE

  • HOW DO I CLEAN THE DEVICE?

    The only part of the device that requires cleaning is the removable tip of the wand. Remove the tip from the wand and gently clean the tip with soap and water. DO NOT SUBMERGE THE WAND. Dry the tip completely with a dry cloth before re-applying to the wand or inserting into the cradle. Do not use a cotton swab or cotton pad to clean the tip, as fuzz might get stuck in the rollers. We recommend cleaning the rollers after each use, or at least once a week.

    The wand and cradle do not require any cleaning. The cradle handles all of the cleaning of the wand, so you don't have to. Do not attempt to clean the wand, as you may cause damage to your system. If your cradle gets dusty, wipe it with a dry cloth.

  • HOW LONG DO THE SERUM REFILL AND CONDITIONING DISK LAST?

    Each refill and conditioning disk lasts up to 60 uses. The wand will display an empty teardrop when the serum is empty. Make sure to change your refill and conditioning disk at the same time.

    When you use the device 3 times (for greater than 30 seconds each time) the serum status on your device will drop in an increment of 5%. If the serum status is dropping quicker than 5% at a time there may be an issue.

  • HOW DO I CHANGE THE SERUM REFILL AND CONDITIONING DISK?

    You can refer to the Instruction Guide included with your Serum & Care Kit, use the guidelines below, or watch our How To video tutorials.

    Remember to replace BOTH the serum and the disk at the same time.

    -To replace the serum: remove the wand from the cradle. Slide the wand's back cover down. Remove the empty serum cartridge. Insert the new cartridge. Close the back cover.
    -To replace the conditioning disk: lift the old disk up to remove from the cradle. Insert the new disk. You may need to use a mild amount of pressure when inserting the disk.
    -After replacing both the serum refill and conditioning Disk, insert the wand back into the cradle and close the lid. 

  • WHAT DOES THE HOUSE/HOME ICON MEAN?

    This icon indicates that your wand has been out of the cradle for too long. Return your Wand to the cradle and close the lid. You can begin using OPTE again as soon as the sounds stop and the display screen says "Ready." 

  • WHY HAS OPTE STOPPED CLICKING?

    OPTE clicks when it is working properly, and it may stop working if both rollers are not contacting the skin or if you're moving the device too quickly. If this happens, lift OPTE away from your skin and return it to your skin with both rollers making contact. Slowly glide the rollers along your skin. If the clicks do not resume, return the wand to the cradle and close the lid for maintenance.

    You may also want to check to see if the rollers have fuzz and/or hair in them. If this is the case, wash the tip with soap and water. You can also try to carefully remove the fuzz/hair with tweezers. If the rollers are fine and clicking has not resumed, please contact customer care.

  • HOW DO I KNOW WHEN I NEED A NEW SERUM REFILL?

    The wand will indicate when it is time to change the refill. When the serum is almost empty, you will see the image of a droplet with a slash through it. When the serum is completely empty, the system will not work. Remember to replace the serum and conditioning disk at the same time.

  • MY SERUM DROP ON THE LED DISPLAY SCREEN OF THE WAND HAS A LINE THROUGH IT. WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?

    This icon indicates that it is time to replace your serum refill and conditioning disk.

  • NO SERUM IS DISPENSING EVEN THOUGH I JUST PUT IN A NEW REFILL.

    Make sure the blue tape has been completely removed from the serum tip. Put the wand back into the cradle, and run it through the cleaning cycle 3 times. After each cycle, put the tip on, and gently press the tip to your skin 5 seconds, holding it still. You should see a line of serum deposited. If you do not see a line, please contact customer service here. 

  • MY SERUM INDICATES 25%. HOW MANY USES ARE LEFT?

    When you use the device 3 times (for longer than 30 seconds) the serum status will drop in an increment of 5%. At 25%, you should have about 15 uses left. 

  • THE LED DISPLAY SCREEN HAS STOPPED WORKING.

    You may need to reset the wand. Follow the instructions below:
    1. Remove the wand from the cradle.
    2. Slide open the back cover.
    3. Identify the small hole in the side of the Wand. Use a paperclip or similar object to poke the reset button inside the hole. It may take you a few tries. You will know you've hit the reset button when the wand turns off.
    4. Slide the back cover closed and insert the wand into the cradle to power it back up. Close the lid and attempt to use as normal. 

  • AFTER THE CIRCLES ARE DONE LOADING, MY WAND DOESN'T SAY "READY." IT JUST TELLS ME TO CLOSE THE LID.

    First, try the following:

    1. Press the lid of the cradle and wait for the cradle finish making noises and the wand says "Ready"
    2. Remove the wand from the cradle
    3. Slide open the back cover on the wand
    4. Remove the cartridge
    5. Insert the cartridge
    6. Slide closed the back cover. Keep the wand out of the cradle for now
    7. Remove the conditioning disk
    8. Unplug the cradle
    9. Plug in the cradle
    10. Insert the conditioning disk
    11. Insert the wand into the cradle and close the lid. Attempt to use as normal.

    If that does not work, you can try to reset the device:

    1. Remove the wand from the Cradle
    2. Slide open the back cover
    3. Identify the small hole in the side of the Wand, per the picture below. Use a paperclip or something similar to hit the reset button inside of the hole. It may take you a few tries. You will know you have hit it when the wand turns off.
    4. Slide closed the back cover and insert the wand into the cradle to power it back up. Close the lid and attempt to use as normal. 

  • DOES THE DEVICE NEED TO BE PLUGGED IN AT ALL TIMES?

    Yes, OPTE needs to be plugged in at all times in order to charge and work properly. 

  • MY OPTE JUST STARTED FLASHING "1-2."

    When the wand flashes "1-2", it means that the conditioning disk ("1") needs to be inserted into the cradle and the serum refill ("2") needs to be inserted into the wand. If you already have both the conditioning disk and the serum refill in the correct places, take them out and put them back in. Then, close the lid and open it again to see if the flashing "1 and 2" goes away.

    Be sure you've removed the blue tape on the serum before you insert it into the wand.

  • MY DEVICE IS NOT CHARGING EVEN THOUGH IT IS PLUGGED IN.

    First, check to make sure your device is plugged in correctly. Then, try unplugging and replugging it back in. You should also make sure the outlet is working properly, and move OPTE to a different outlet if needed. 

  • I CANNOT GET MY CONDITIONING DISK OUT OF THE CRADLE.

    Your device must be plugged in to remove the conditioning disk. Please plug in your device and then insert your finger in the notch located at the top right corner of the conditioning disk to remove it from the cradle.

  • WHY IS MY WAND BEEPING AND/OR VIBRATING?

    Your wand will beep and/or vibrate if it has been out of the cradle for too long and needs to be returned to the cradle for maintenance. The cradle works continuously to preserve and prepare the serum for use. Return your wand to the cradle, close the lid, and wait for the noises to stop. Once the noises have stopped, your wand is ready for use again.

  • THE LED SCREEN ON MY DEVICE IS BLACK.

    If the blue light comes on when you put the tip on the wand, you will need to reset the device. Follow the instructions below:

    1. Remove the wand from the cradle
    2. Slide open the back cover
    3. Identify the small hole in the side of the wand, per the picture below. Use a paperclip or something similar to hit the reset button inside of the hole. It may take you a few tries. You will know you've hit it when the wand turns off.
    4. Slide closed the back cover and insert the wand into the cradle to power it back up. Close the lid and attempt to use as normal.

    If the blue light does not come on, please contact customer care.

  • HOW MUCH DOES OPTE COST?

    The OPTE Precision System, which includes the OPTE device as well as your first Serum & Care Kit, is $599 USD. Refill Serum & Care Kits are $129.

  • HOW DOES THE MEMBERSHIP WORK?

    Our membership is a recurring monthly payment, over a period of 24 months. The membership includes the initial Precision System as well as 7 Serum & Care Kit refills (delivered to you every 3 months). 

  • IS THERE A MONEY BACK GUARANTEE?

    If you are unsatisfied with your purchase from OPTE.com for any reason, you have 30 days from the date of shipment to request a full refund. 

    To qualify for a refund, all the following conditions must be met:

    A return authorization must be requested from our customer service team within 30 days of your delivery date. To request a return authorization, please contact Customer Service here. You must ship the product from within the United States. You must return the product to OPTE in good physical condition (not physically broken or damaged). All accessories originally included with your purchase must be included with your return.

    Serum & Care Kits are not eligible for returns/exchanges.

  • WILL SALES TAX BE APPLIED?

    Yes, applicable sales tax will be calculated and collected at checkout based on the billing address used.

  • WHERE IS MY ORDER?

    Once your order ships, you will receive tracking information via email. 

  • CAN I EDIT MY SHIPPING ADDRESS AFTER PLACING AN ORDER?

    Once an order has been fulfilled and shipped by our warehouse, we cannot edit the shipping address. We encourage you to contact the carrier to attempt to make any changes.

  • WHERE DO YOU SHIP?

    We currently ship to all fifty states in the U.S. Please note that shipping to Alaska and Hawaii may take longer than shipping to the contiguous states.

  • WHEN WILL MY PACKAGE BE DELIVERED?

    OPTE Precision System: After placing your starter kit order, please allow one business day for your order to process prior to shipping. Once your starter kit ships, it will typically be delivered within 3-4 business days (7-10 for Alaska and Hawaii).

    Refill Serum & Care Kits: After your refill kit payment goes through, please allow one business day for your order to process prior to shipping. Once your refill ships, it will typically be delivered within 7-10 business days (may be extended for Alaska and Hawaii).

    Once your order has shipped, you will receive tracking information via email. All orders are shipped via FedEx International/UPS. We do not offer expedited shipping at this time. Processing and shipping timeframes may be extended during holidays.

    **We are not responsible for deliveries that may be affected by (but not limited to) the following: customs, weather, natural disasters, air/ground transportation strikes/delays, or transfers from USPS to international mail carriers. 

  • DO YOU SHIP TO APO/FPO ADDRESSES?

    We do not currently ship to APO or FPO addresses. 

  • CAN I MAKE CHANGES TO MY ORDER?

    We have a very small window in which we can attempt to change or update an order. If there are any issues with your recent order, please contact us immediately via email. We cannot guarantee any changes. 

  • DO YOU ALLOW RETURNS?

    If you try OPTE and don't love it, you can return your device within 30 days of delivery for a full refund. After 30 days, we are only able to offer exchanges for subscribers. 

    Serum & Care Kits are not eligible for returns/exchanges.   

    To qualify for a refund, all the following conditions must be met:

    A return authorization must be requested from our customer service team within 30 days of your delivery date. You must ship the product from within the United States. You must return the product to OPTE in good physical condition (not physically broken or damaged). All accessories originally included with your purchase must be included with your return.

  • WHEN CAN I EXPECT A REFUND?

    When we receive the device at our warehouse, we will inspect the shipment to ensure all parts have been returned and the device undamaged. Once the device has been inspected (typically within 2-5 business days) we will process your refund and reimburse the payment method you used to purchase. It typically takes 5-10 business days for the refund to be reflected on your bank statement.

    We will send you an email when we have received your returned item(s) and another email to confirm when your refund has been processed. If you have not received either email within 2 weeks of returning your item, please contact us here.

  • HOW SOON WILL CUSTOMER SUPPORT GET BACK TO ME?

    Email is the best way to get in touch with us, and we aim to answer every inquiry within 48 hours. Each email response comes directly from our team, and we promise to get back to you as quickly as we can!

    If you haven't heard back from us within 48 hours, your email may require a bit more time and care to review. In the meantime, we recommend double-checking your spam folder in case our response was filtered there by your email provider.

  • IS OPTE CRUELTY FREE?

    OPTE is a cruelty-free brand. We do not test on animals during product development or production.
